A serious incident took place in the Kotwali area of Orai on Saturday, where a bank manager and his team were attacked while trying to recover a loan. The team had gone to the house of a defaulter, but instead of cooperating, the borrower and his associates allegedly assaulted the bank officials.

According to reports, Saurabh Niranjan, manager of the Indian Bank Mandi branch, along with his team members – Vinod Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Deepak, and Anuj – visited the residence of Santosh Tiwari in Mohalla Naya Pathakpura to discuss the pending loan amount. Santosh Tiwari reportedly owes the bank Rs 21,09,463.

When the bank officials requested repayment or settlement of the outstanding amount, Santosh allegedly got angry. He, along with his associates including Mani Tiwari, began arguing with the bank manager. The situation quickly escalated, and the accused reportedly assaulted the manager and even attacked other bank staff.

The team members somehow managed to rescue the manager from the scene and rushed to the local police station to file a complaint.

Based on the complaint, Kotwali police have registered an FIR against Santosh Tiwari, Mani Tiwari, and others involved in the assault. Arun Kumar Rai, the in-charge of Kotwali police station, confirmed that a case has been filed and a search operation is underway to locate and arrest the accused.

This incident highlights the growing risks faced by bank officials while dealing with loan defaulters, especially during field visits. The police are investigating the matter and ensuring the safety of the bank employees involved.
