The CBI took action in Sitamarhi on Wednesday, arresting Vishal Kumar, the branch manager of Indian Bank at Bathnaha block headquarters. He was accused of demanding a bribe for approving a loan under the Kisan Credit Card scheme.

Vishal Kumar allegedly asked for ₹30,000 in exchange for sanctioning a ₹3 lakh loan to Bikaau Mahto, the southern president of Bathnaha BJP Mandal. The amount was later negotiated to ₹15,000, out of which Mahto had already paid ₹10,000.

Despite approving the loan, the manager persistently demanded the remaining amount, prompting Mahto to file a complaint with the CBI. Acting on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap using marked notes and caught Vishal Kumar red-handed while accepting ₹10,000.

Following his arrest, the CBI team took the accused to Patna. The operation has caused a stir in the bank branch, and further investigations are underway.
