ICICI Bank Launches ‘SmartLock’ Feature for Enhanced Banking Security

ICICI Bank introduced a new feature called ‘SmartLock’ on Monday, June 24. This feature allows customers to lock and unlock various banking services instantly, without the need for assistance from a customer care executive. Customers can access this feature through the iMobile Pay app.

With ‘SmartLock’, customers can lock or unlock access to internet banking, UPI (including payments from other UPI apps linked to their bank account), and credit and debit cards with just a click of a button. This is the first-of-its-kind measure in the Indian banking sector. Additionally, customers can also lock or unlock the entire iMobile Pay platform.

The ‘SmartLock’ feature provides customers with the ability to deactivate a specific banking service for a certain period of time. This can be useful in cases of possible fraudulent transactions. It is important to note that even when a banking service is locked, scheduled standing instructions and E-mandates will still be processed.

Sidharatha Mishra, Head of Digital Channels and Partnerships at ICICI Bank, expressed that the launch of ‘SmartLock’ is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and security of customer accounts. This Do-It-Yourself (DIY) feature gives customers the convenience and control to ensure the security of their banking services in one place.
