ICICI Bank is making important changes for its credit card users related to accessing airport lounges. These changes are important for anyone who enjoys free lounge access while traveling.
What’s Changing in ICICI Credit Card Lounge Access?
ICICI Bank has introduced a minimum spending requirement for customers who want to enjoy free lounge access at selected domestic airports. This new rule means that not all cardholders will automatically get free entry into airport lounges — you must first meet certain spending conditions.
What You Need to Get Free Lounge Access
To use your ICICI Bank credit card for free lounge access:
- You must show a valid and active ICICI credit card.
- You must have a confirmed flight ticket or boarding pass for the same day or the next day.
- A nominal fee of ₹2 will be charged to verify your card.
- Only the cardholder is eligible for free lounge entry. Guests or companions may need to pay charges, depending on the lounge’s rules.
- Lounge access is managed by third-party providers, not directly by the bank.
New Minimum Spending Requirement
To get free access to airport lounges, you now need to spend at least ₹75,000 using your ICICI Bank credit card during a specific three-month period.
Here’s how it works:
- If you spend ₹75,000 between March 26, 2025 and June 25, 2025, you will get free lounge access in the next quarter: July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025.
- Similarly, if you spend ₹75,000 between June 26, 2025 and September 25, 2025, you’ll enjoy lounge access between October 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025.
This pattern will continue every quarter.
Which ICICI Credit Cards Are Not Affected?
Some premium ICICI Bank credit cards are excluded from this new policy. That means these cards may continue to offer lounge access benefits without following the ₹75,000 spending rule:
- ICICI Bank Diamant Credit Card
- ICICI Bank Emeralde (Private/Metal) Credit Cards
- ICICI Bank Emirates Emeralde Credit Card
- Adani One ICICI Bank Signature and Platinum Credit Cards
- MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card
- Times Black ICICI Bank Credit Card
What Kind of Spending Will Not Count?
Not all types of transactions will count toward the ₹75,000 spending requirement. These include:
- Rent payments
- School or college fees
- Government payments (like taxes or challans)
- Card fees (joining/annual), interest charges, late fees
- EMI payments
- Reward redemptions
- Cancelled transactions or refunds
Make sure your spending falls under eligible transactions to qualify for lounge access.
Conclusion
This update from ICICI Bank is part of a growing trend where banks are offering airport lounge access based on spending behavior. If you regularly travel and want to enjoy this benefit, be sure to check your card type and track your eligible spending in each quarter.
