ICICI Bank Deputy Manager Arrested in Major Cyber Fraud Case involving Rs 25.5 Lakh Scam

Gurugram police have arrested Akashdeep Singh, a Deputy Manager at ICICI Bank, in connection with a major cyber fraud case. The arrest is related to a stock market investment scam where the accused facilitated fraud by providing banking services. On February 29, 2024, an individual filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station, Manesar, Gurugram, reporting that he had been defrauded of approximately ₹25.5 lakh through an app under the pretense of stock market investment. Based on this complaint, a case was registered at the Cyber Police Station, Manesar.

Under the direction of Assistant Commissioner of Police Cyber Crime, Priyanshu Dewan, Inspector Sunil Kumar and his team conducted a thorough investigation. On September 16, 2024, the police arrested one of the accused, Akashdeep Singh. Akashdeep Singh, who was serving as a Deputy Manager at ICICI Bank, played a significant role in the fraud by providing a bank account for the scam.

The accused has been identified as Akashdeep Singh from Village Jasdan Mandi Govindgarh, Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab. Previously, Harpreet Singh and Devender Singh had also been arrested in connection with this cyber fraud racket. During interrogation, it was revealed that ₹25 lakh of the defrauded amount was transferred to Devender’s bank account. Akashdeep and Harpreet had opened Devender’s bank account and provided it to the cyber criminals. In return, Devender received ₹10,000 and Harpreet received ₹20,000. Akashdeep had been with ICICI Bank since 2022 and was currently serving as a Deputy Manager.

The arrested accused will be presented in court for police custody remand. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the case and exploring the possibility of other involved parties. The investigation is ongoing, and necessary legal actions are being taken.
