ICICI Bank allows customers to make UPI payments via Biometric

ICICI Bank has introduced biometric authentication for UPI transactions on its iMobile app. Customers can now approve small payments using fingerprint or face recognition instead of entering a UPI PIN.

This feature is available for UPI transactions up to ₹5,000. Customers can pay easily via biometric upto Rs.5,000. This makes payments faster as UPI PIN is not needed. Users just need to put finger and pay easily. Transactions above ₹5,000 will still require the regular UPI PIN.

Customers can use this option for person-to-person transfers, QR code merchant payments, and online UPI payments made through the iMobile app. Android users can use fingerprint authentication, while iPhone users can use face recognition.

UPI payments are increasing widely in India. UPI platforms processed over 241 billion transactions with their value exceeding ₹314 lakh crore in 2025-26.
