A public sector bank employee has shared a disturbing experience on social media, highlighting the extreme work pressure and lack of empathy in the banking sector.
The employee, currently posted in New Delhi, said that due to heavy pressure from senior management to sanction and disburse loans during the festive season, staff were forced to work for more than 12 hours a day.
Narrating his ordeal on Reddit, he said that one night, while returning home around 11 PM, he met with an accident. The accident left him with fractures in his leg and shoulder.
What shocked him more was the response from his office. According to his statement, no one from the bank called to ask about his health or recovery. Instead, he only received an email demanding submission of medical documents.
The employee described this as an example of toxic work culture, saying it shows how banks show “no concern whether you are alive or dead.” He strongly advised people to reconsider joining public sector banks, given the lack of basic courtesy and care shown towards employees.

Hi all, I would like to narrate an incident happened with me recently. I am working in a govt Bank ( PSU) and currently posted in New Delhi. Due to immense pressure from top management on sanction of Loans and there disbursement on the occasion of festive season, we were forced to work for more than 12 hours. On one fateful day I was returning home from office at around 11 PM and met with an accident, I got my leg and shoulder fractured. I informed this thing to my office and to my surprise the toxicity has been reached to that level, that I didn’t recieved a single call from my office about my well being. They didn’t concern whether I am alive or not. Just received a mail regarding submission of medical docs. It seems that Banks doesn’t care whether you are alive or dead, there is even no courtesy. Please please don’t join the banks.
