Himachal Government introduced Special Maternity Leave for Women Employees

The Himachal Pradesh Government has made several important decisions aimed at improving the welfare of its citizens and enhancing public services. These decisions were approved at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today.

Special Maternity Leave for Women Employees

The government has decided to grant a 60-day special maternity leave for women employees in the event of stillbirth or the death of a newborn. This initiative aims to support grieving mothers during a difficult time and ensure they receive the necessary time to recover emotionally and physically.

Pending Exam Results for 699 Posts

In another significant move, the Cabinet has approved the declaration of the pending results for exams related to 699 posts across six different codes. However, results for positions with ongoing police investigations will be withheld. These posts include those for market supervisors, firemen, drawing masters, clerks at the state Secretariat, linemen, and steno-typists.

Salary During Study Leave for Doctors

The Cabinet has also approved a decision to allow allopathic doctors to draw their full salary while on study leave, whether they are studying within India or abroad. This step is expected to encourage doctors to enhance their skills and knowledge, ultimately benefiting the healthcare system.

Reorganization of Police Stations

The Cabinet has agreed to categorize all 135 existing police stations in the state into six groups. These categories will be based on factors like population, area size, major crimes, traffic, proximity to interstate borders, and tourist flow. Staff postings at these police stations will be adjusted accordingly to improve service delivery and strengthen field operations.

Upgrade of Police and Fire Services

The Cabinet also approved the upgrade of the Sanjauli police chowki to a full-fledged police station, along with the addition of 20 new posts. Additionally, a new fire post will be established at Nerwa in Shimla district, creating 17 new positions. A new process for collecting entry taxes for 2025-26 will be introduced, with an expected additional revenue of Rs 11.56 crore.

Introduction of FASTag at Entry Barriers

In a bid to improve traffic management and revenue collection, the Cabinet has decided to introduce FASTag at all entry barriers across the state in a phased manner. The first phase will see FASTag installed at toll barriers in Garamaura (Bilaspur), Parwanoo (Main), Tiara bypass (Solan), Govindghat (Sirmaur), Kandwal (Nurpur), Mehatpur (Una), and Baddi (Solan).

New Health and Education Initiatives

The Cabinet also approved the opening of a new primary health centre (PHC) at Basheel in Solan district. New Jal Shakti Department divisions will be set up in Kangra and Jagatkhana (Naina Devi constituency of Bilaspur), along with the creation of a sub-tehsil at Loharghat in Solan.

In the education sector, 16 Assistant Professor posts at the HP Government Dental College in Shimla will be upgraded to Associate Professor positions. New B.Tech courses in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, as well as Computer Science, will be introduced at Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College in Kangra. B.Tech in Civil Engineering will also be introduced at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Institute of Engineering and Technology in Shimla. Furthermore, a new diploma course in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) will be launched at Government Polytechnic College in Sundernagar, Mandi.

Nuclear Medicine Department at Medical College

The Cabinet has given approval for the establishment of a Department of Nuclear Medicine at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital in Nerchowk, Mandi district. The approval includes the creation of various posts, including Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Senior Resident Doctor, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and Radiation Safety Officer.

Post Creation for Medical College in Nahan

Lastly, the Cabinet approved the creation of the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College in Nahan, Sirmaur district.

These decisions reflect the government’s continued focus on improving public services, healthcare, education, and infrastructure for the people of Himachal Pradesh.

    welfare issues resolved by the H.P. Govt.
    these steps will certainly increase the growth of organisations.
    I suggest that on same lines the Govt. should implement some welfare schemes for unorganised sectors also.
