High-Level Committee is just an administrative graveyard: AIPNBOA Meerut AGS demands answers from AIBOC
The Moradabad Circle of the All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association (AIPNBOA) has expressed strong disappointment over the decision to defer the proposed three-day bank strike. In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), Sachin Chaudhary, Assistant General Secretary of AIPNBOA, Meerut Zone, said that the decision had caused deep disillusionment among officers at the grassroots level.
Hundreds of officers across the Meerut Zone had prepared themselves for the three-day strike and were ready to face salary loss and other difficulties to press for their demand for Five-Day Banking.
The officers had shown strong participation and expected the strike to go ahead, but the sudden deferment created anger and raised questions among employees about what had changed before the strike.
The AIPNBOA representative also questioned the decision to rely on further committees and discussions. The letter said that employees were looking for immediate implementation of their demands rather than another committee or a prolonged process of discussions.
Moreover, there was no written and time-bound commitment on Five-Day Banking. The letter also referred to the recent Sunday working issue. It said that officers had already faced pressure because of Sunday working and that payment of wages for the additional day did not address their concerns about personal time and the loss of a weekly holiday.
AGS Sachin Chaudhary argued that postponing the agitation would not resolve these concerns. The AIPNBOA leader further said that the deferment had affected the confidence of grassroots representatives, who now faced difficulties in explaining the decision to employees.
He has urged the leadership to listen to the concerns of officers working at branches and said that employees want concrete results on their demands.
