HDFC Bank Introduces 2 Day Work From Home Policy for Employees
HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, has introduced a work-from-home policy for up to two days a week for some of its employees.
Right now, work from home has been allowed for employees working in Business Enabling Functions and Corporate Enabling Functions. The policy will be in effect immediately for the next 30 days, after which it will be reviewed.
The decision comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to citizens and companies to adopt work-from-home and virtual meetings to help save fuel amid rising crude oil prices. The Iran-Israel war has caused a significant economic crisis for major countries in the world.
This work from home policy will be applicable for employees working in Business Enabling Functions such as treasury operations, credit underwriting and risk, transaction banking, digital banking, and IT services. It will also cover Corporate Enabling Functions, including human resources, finance and accounts, legal and compliance, and secretarial and board-related functions. HDFC Bank has more than 2 lakh employees across India.
Apart from HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank recently introduced a hybrid work policy for some employees, while Axis Bank has continued its hybrid model for non-customer-facing roles since FY21, where employees are required to attend office two days a week.
