The Government of India has approved the premature termination of the appointment of Shri Dinesh Pant as Managing Director (MD) of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, on September 24, 2026, the decision has been taken following Dinesh Pant’s retirement on a voluntary basis.
His appointment as Managing Director of LIC will end with effect from the date of issue of the notification.
The notification has been issued under Rule 19 of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (Staff) Rules, 1960, read with Rule 8 of the Life Insurance Corporation of India Managing Directors (Revision of Certain Terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1988.
The Central Government has exercised its powers under these provisions to approve the premature termination of his appointment.
