Government Banks should increase their working speed and change recruitment process, says Parliament Committee
A parliamentary committee has shared its thoughts about public sector banks. They are saying that these banks need to work quickly and keep up with the latest technology because they have a lot of work to do and need to serve the public well. The committee’s recent report also mentioned that the way banks hire new employees should change over time. This way, they can find people who are good at doing their job accurately and quickly.
The idea of being fast and accurate is different now compared to about 10 years ago. Back then, the work wasn’t as demanding in terms of speed and accuracy. But now, because banks are involved in many government schemes and helping people in need, being fast and accurate is very important.
The committee wants banks to be good at using technology, like e-banking and online banking, to help a lot of customers, including those with Jan-Dhan Yojana accounts. They don’t want any problems or delays when providing services.
The committee talked about a test called the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test, which is used to see if someone is good for a specific job. They want to know if there’s a similar test for bankers. They believe that right now, the banks’ speed, accuracy, and service quality aren’t getting better, and they’re curious if such a test could help improve things.
The committee also noticed that many recruiting organizations in India have similar ways of hiring people, even if the job is different. They want the organization responsible for hiring bank employees (IBPS) to let more students take the test at the same time. This means they should have more places where the test is held. Currently, the most is around one lakh or one lakh twenty thousand students at once. They want IBPS to figure out how to let more students take the test together.
