Five major car manufacturers, including Mercedes-Benz Korea, Volkswagen Group Korea, and Toyota Motor Korea, will voluntarily recall more than 15,000 vehicles in South Korea due to defective components, the country’s transport ministry announced on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT), the recall involves various models from these automakers, along with two other car companies. The affected vehicles have been found to contain faulty parts that could pose safety risks to drivers and passengers.
The ministry stated that the defects were identified in different components, but specific details about the faulty parts and the exact models impacted have not yet been fully disclosed. Vehicle owners will be contacted by the respective manufacturers, who will offer free repairs or replacements at designated service centers.
This recall is part of ongoing efforts by the transport ministry to ensure vehicle safety and protect consumers from potential hazards. The ministry urged affected car owners to check with their car manufacturers for further details and to schedule repairs as soon as possible.
More information on the recall, including the list of affected models and repair schedules, will be made available on the official MOLIT website and through the customer service channels of the carmakers.
