A short circuit caused a fire at the Jagesarganj branch of Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank in Pratapgarh on Sunday night. While some valuables were damaged, important documents and cash remained safe. On Monday morning, villagers near the bank noticed smoke coming from the windows and gate. They immediately informed the bank manager, police, and fire brigade. The fire brigade arrived quickly and extinguished the fire.

SO Anand Pal Singh Bhadoria and branch manager Saurabh Kumar Verma reached the spot and had the shutter opened to inspect the damage. The branch manager said the fire destroyed the router, network system, wiring, and some bank stationery, but no cash or critical documents were harmed.
Due to the incident, banking operations were suspended at the branch on Monday, forcing customers to leave without completing transactions. The branch manager assured that normal banking services will resume soon.
