A shocking incident has come to light from Rampur Madhura in Sitapur district, where a bank officer and a bank mitra of Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank were brutally attacked while on duty. The attack occurred on June 19, 2025, when Rohit Verma, an officer of the Rampur Madhura branch, and Sunil Kumar, a bank mitra, went to recover dues from a borrower.
The borrower, Prabhu Dayal, son of Keshan and resident of village Purana Kothar, along with his family members, verbally abused the bank officials using casteist slurs and physically attacked them. According to the complaint, the situation turned violent, and the bank officer received serious injuries. Both Rohit Verma and Sunil Kumar reportedly fled the scene with great difficulty to save their lives.
The bank staff was attacked seriously and they sustained several injuries. The bank staff had gone for loan recovery to recover the public money but they were attacked by the loan defaulters. This has raised a big question on safety and security of bank employees.
Following the incident, an FIR (No. 0214) was registered at Rampur Madhura Police Station. However, even after three days, no arrests have been made by the local authorities. This has caused fear and insecurity among bank employees working in the area.
In a letter addressed to the Superintendent of Police, Sitapur, bank officials expressed deep concern over the lack of timely action and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. They stated that such inaction could encourage more such attacks, creating a hostile environment for those who are simply doing their job.
The officials urged the police to take strict and prompt action against the culprits to ensure a safe and fear-free atmosphere for banking staff and to restore public trust in law and order. But the issue is that even after 3 days, no arrests have been done. The public and bankers are asking – When will the miscreants be arrested? Why is so much delay in arrests?
