A screenshot of an internal email has gone viral on social media, exposing serious allegations against a senior official of UCO Bank. The email accuses the official of displaying inhuman and toxic behaviour towards employees, sparking widespread outrage.

The complaint, addressed to UCO Bank’s top management, was titled “Complaint Regarding Inhuman and Toxic Behavior by Zonal Head, Chennai – Request for Immediate Action.”

In the email, an employee accused RS Ajith, Zonal Head of Chennai Zone, of creating a workplace filled with “fear and oppression.” The officer was described as treating colleagues like “servants rather than professionals.”

The complaint painted a grim picture of the work environment, calling him “dictatorial, abusive, and insensitive.” It also listed several shocking incidents where employees were allegedly denied leave even during medical or family emergencies.

  • Mother in ICU: When a branch head’s mother was in critical condition, the zonal head reportedly asked the officer to confirm his return date before approving leave.
  • Death of a mother: In another case, when a branch head lost his mother, he allegedly told him, “Everyone’s mother dies. Don’t be dramatic, be practical. Join immediately, or I will mark LWP (Leave Without Pay).” He later issued an official letter against the officer.
  • Child in hospital: When a branch head’s one-year-old daughter was hospitalised, the official allegedly said, “Are you a doctor? Why are you at the hospital? Go to the office immediately, else I will mark LWP.”
  • Wife’s medical emergency: In yet another instance, when an officer’s wife needed emergency hospitalisation, the request for leave was allegedly rejected with insulting remarks.

These revelations have angered people online, with many condemning what they called cruelty under the guise of discipline.

One viral post read: “Discipline without humanity is decay. Rules can govern leave; they cannot excuse cruelty. When authority forgets this, it stops being discipline and becomes decay.”

Another social media user wrote: “Mother died? — ‘Everyone’s mother dies.’ Child in ICU? — ‘Are you a doctor?’ Wife hospitalised? — ‘You are useless.’ This is how @UCOBank’s Zonal Head treats his own officers. This is not leadership, it’s dictatorship. Shame on this toxic system!”

Several users tagged regulatory bodies like the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Department of Financial Services, and the Ministry of Finance, demanding strict action and accountability.

As of now, UCO Bank and its Chennai Zonal Office have not issued any official statement regarding these allegations.
