Recently, IBA released a letter to all public sector banks, mentioning 17 offices as sensitive installations. This meant that employees posted in these 17 offices would not participate in the strike.
UFBU immediately took up the issue with IBA as these sensitive installations were not mentioned in the bipartite settlement. IBA has unilaterally expanded the list of sensitive installations. UFBU also threatened to terminate the provisions of bipartite settlement, if IBA did not withdraw its letter.
In the latest development, UFBU has released a letter and informed that the matter has been taken up with the IBA to modify their communication in alignment with the Settlement and Joint Note.
UFBU has clarified that following 6 offices do not fall under the definition of sensitive installation:
- Currency Chests and Cash Processing Centres
- Clearing Processing Centres
- Centralised Pension Processing Cell
- Complaint Management Systems
- Government Business & PFMS
- Cells Centralised Back Offices
These departments do not require round-the-clock maintenance and surveillance. Hence employees and officers who are working in these departments and who are members of UFBU shall join the strike action.
