DFS Secretary Holds Review Meeting with Public Sector Banks in Bhubaneswar Odisha

The Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, chaired an important review meeting with Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, and senior officers of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in Bhubaneswar on April 19.

The meeting focused on evaluating the performance of banks in several key areas including the Annual Credit Plan (ACP), Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio, Social Security Schemes, and other flagship programmes of the Government of India.

Also present at the meeting were the Principal Secretary (Finance) of the Government of Odisha, the Regional Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Bhubaneswar, and the Convener of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Odisha.

During the meeting, the DFS Secretary urged banks to improve their performance in the disbursement of Education and Housing Loans. He emphasized the importance of increasing outreach in these sectors to support the aspirations of the youth and ensure better housing for citizens.

The Secretary praised SLBC Odisha for its commendable work in implementing Social Security Schemes, including initiatives like the CSP Plus (Customer Service Point Plus) model. He also acknowledged the active cooperation of the State Government of Odisha in the successful execution of various central government schemes.

Another key highlight of the meeting was the noticeable rise in credit flow by banks in Odisha over the past few years. The Secretary appreciated the efforts of banks in enhancing credit availability, which is essential for boosting economic activities and supporting inclusive growth in the state.

The meeting served as a platform for open discussion on banking sector challenges and strategies to strengthen financial inclusion and credit delivery in Odisha.
