The Delhi Police has again denied permission to UFBU to protest at Jantar Mantar from 28 to 30 September 2026. After the request of UFBU was denied by Delhi Police, the UFBU filed a petition in the Delhi High Court.
The Delhi High Court has now directed the authorities to consider the application filed by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), Delhi State, seeking permission to hold a peaceful demonstration in New Delhi.
The union had also requested that, if permission was not possible at Jantar Mantar, it should be allowed to hold the demonstration at an alternative location in Delhi or New Delhi.
In its order dated September 25, 2026, the High Court directed the respondents to consider UFBU’s application for holding the peaceful demonstration at an alternative site by September 28.
The court further directed that the decision should be communicated to the counsel representing the petitioner before 4 PM on September 28.
The case was heard by Justice Amit Mahajan. The court did not grant permission for the demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Instead, it ordered the authorities to consider UFBU’s request for an alternative venue.
