
A person from Gopiganj, Bhadohi, was defrauded of Rs 72,196 from his Punjab National Bank (PNB) account through UPI transactions. The victim, identified as Banshidhar Pandey, filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police (SP) after discovering the fraudulent transactions.
Pandey, a resident of Sikhapur in the Gopiganj police station area, reported that on January 20, a total of Rs 72,196 was withdrawn from his PNB account in three separate UPI transactions. Shocked by the unauthorized withdrawals, Pandey immediately informed the Cyber Crime team in Bhadohi.
Following the complaint, the Superintendent of Police directed the Gopiganj police to take swift action. The police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
This incident highlights the growing issue of cyber fraud, prompting local authorities to urge the public to remain vigilant. Police officials have advised residents to report any suspicious online activity immediately to prevent further cyber crimes.
