Central Bank Manager missing in Punjab, Police starts search operation

A bank manager from Muktsar, Punjab, has gone missing along with his car, sparking a major search operation. Simrandeep Singh, who works at the Central Bank of India’s Lakhewali branch, disappeared after attending a hospital inauguration party with friends two days ago. He has not returned home since, and police suspect that his car may have fallen into the Sirhind Feeder Canal.

Tyre marks were discovered near the canal’s edge, leading authorities to believe that Simrandeep’s vehicle might have slipped into the water. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been searching the canal since Friday morning, but no trace of the bank manager or his car has been found yet.

According to Darshan Singh, Simrandeep’s father, his son attended the hospital opening on Wednesday night and later decided to take a detour towards the canal with some friends. Simrandeep was alone in his car, and around 10 p.m., he spoke with his wife on the phone, telling her that he would be late getting home. When he still hadn’t returned by 2 a.m., his wife tried calling him again, but his phone was switched off. She reached out to one of his friends, who claimed Simrandeep had already left the party.

On Friday, police conducted an investigation at the canal, where they found the tyre marks, heightening concerns that the car had fallen into the water. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tushar Gupta visited the site on Thursday night to oversee the search. Rescue efforts are ongoing, but as of now, no significant clues have emerged. SSP Tushar Gupta confirmed that the police are continuing their investigation.
