CBI Arrests Branch Manager and Field Officer of UP Gramin Bank in Bijnor for Taking Bribe
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Branch Manager and Field Officer of UP Gramin Bank, Sahaspur, Bijnor, UP and a Private Person while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 45,000 from the complainant.
The CBI registered the case on 31.01.2026 based on a complaint against the accused Field Officer. The wife of complainant had applied for a loan of Rs. 5 Lakh under Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojna from UP Gramin Bank, Sahaspur, Bijnor, U.P.
It was alleged by the complainant that the accused Field Officer had demanded illegal gratification of Rs.40,000 from him for sanctioning the loan to his wife. The accused further increased the bribe demand to Rs.45,000.

The CBI registered the case, and a trap was laid to catch the accused. It was revealed that the accused Field Officer had demanded the aforesaid undue advantage of Rs. 45,000 in conspiracy with the Branch Manager, UP Gramin Bank, Sahaspur, Bijnor.
During trap proceedings, the accused Branch Manager, Field Officer and a Private Person were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs. 45,000 from the complainant.

Serious Questions on Banking Ethics
The incident has raised serious concerns about transparency and ethical practices in the implementation of government-backed loan schemes. Such schemes are meant to support entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, but allegations of bribery undermine public trust in the banking system.
