Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: One more case of burglary has been reported in Punjab National Bank. A few days ago, a women gang was arrested in Madhya Pradesh on charges of stealing cash from customers inside bank premises. These women would gather near customer and steal cash from bags of customers. They were able to do so as PNB has removed security guards from almost all of its branches.
This time, money has been stolen from an elderly farmer who had gone to bank to withdraw money from the bank. Based on CCTV footage and information provided by the victim, the police are searching for the accused.
Udayveer Singh, a resident of Akkhapur village in the Garhmukteshwar Kotwali area, said that on September 15, he had withdrawn 50,000 rupees from the Punjab National Bank in the Simbhaoli area and was standing near the cash counter. An unknown man standing nearby offered help to the elderly man in counting the cash.
It is alleged that during this time, the man stole Rs.19,500 rupee from the bundle and returned the remaining amount to Udayveer. When the elderly man found the cash missing, he immediately informed the bank employees about the incident, but by then the accused had fled from the spot.
Station House Officer Inspector Arvind Chaudhary stated that a report has been filed against unknown persons based on the complaint of the victim farmer. A police team is working on the investigation and the incident will be revealed soon.
