SBI: Case registered against 60 individuals for conducting Rs 2.10 crore fraud in SBI

Panchkula: According to the police, a case has been registered against 60 individuals for availing bank loans from the State Bank of India (SBI) based on fake documents. These individuals have been availing these loans since 2021, and the case was registered against them recently after a complaint from the bank.

Loan Application and Fake Documents

The individuals applied for loans under the Xpress Credit Scheme and claimed to be government employees. They submitted salary slips, ID cards, and other valid documents to the bank as part of their loan application process. However, upon verification from the respective government departments, it was discovered that all the documents were fake.

Amount Defrauded and Investigation

The bank has been defrauded of a total of Rs 2.10 crore by these individuals. The regional manager of the SBI Sector 5 branch at Panchkula, Rishi Kumar, stated that the borrowers presented fake salary slips, ID cards, and other documents to the bank. The documents were sent for verification to the respective departments, which confirmed that the borrowers were not government employees.

Legal Action Taken

A complaint has been registered against unidentified suspects under Sections 120B (party to a criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of a valuable security), 468 (forgery intended to cheat), and 471 (fraudulent use of a forged document or electronic record as genuine) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sector 7 police station.
