Canara Bank Financial Results Q4 2025 Released, Net Profit Rs.5002.66 Crore

Canara Bank announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024–25 on Thursday, May 8, showing a strong performance with a 33.15% increase in net profit compared to the same period last year.

Key Highlights:

  • Net Profit: The bank earned a standalone net profit of ₹5,002.66 crore in the January–March quarter (Q4FY25), up from ₹3,757.23 crore in Q4FY24.
  • Interest Income: Total interest income rose by 7.62% to ₹31,002.04 crore, compared to ₹28,807.35 crore last year.
  • Operating Profit: Grew by 12.14% year-on-year, reaching ₹8,284 crore in Q4FY25, compared to ₹7,387 crore in Q4FY24.

Profitability Metrics:

  • Net Interest Income (NII): This key profitability measure slightly declined by 1.44% to ₹9,442 crore, down from ₹9,580 crore.
  • Net Interest Margin (NIM): Also dropped to 2.80%, compared to 3.05% a year ago. This indicates the bank earned slightly less profit on its lending compared to last year.

Expenses and Provisions:

  • Cost-to-Income Ratio: Improved to 47.55%, down from 50.08% a year ago. A lower ratio means better efficiency in managing expenses.
  • Provisions: The bank set aside ₹3,280 crore in provisions during the quarter, which is 9.64% lower than the ₹3,630 crore it provided in the same quarter last year.
  • Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR): Increased to 92.70%, showing the bank is better prepared to handle potential loan defaults.

Asset Quality:

Canara Bank made notable improvements in reducing its bad loans:

  • Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA): Dropped to 2.94%, down from 4.23% a year ago.
  • Net NPA: Improved to 0.70%, compared to 1.27% last year.

Business Growth:

  • Global Advances (Loans Given): Increased by 11.74% to ₹10,73,332 crore.
  • Global Deposits (Customer Deposits): Rose by 11.01% to ₹14,56,883 crore.

Dividend Announcement:

Canara Bank’s board has recommended a 200% dividend for the financial year 2024–25. This means shareholders may receive ₹4 per share (on a face value of ₹2), subject to approval at the upcoming shareholder meeting.
