Canara Bank Chief Manager Attacked by Loan Borrower infront of Police in Karnal Haryana, Admitted in Hospital!

Karnal, Haryana: Two employees of Canara Bank were attacked with sticks by two men while they had gone to take possession of a house in Wig Colony, Gharaunda. Both officers suffered injuries. The attackers also damaged the car of the bank officials. Even though a police team was present at the spot, they were unable to stop the assault. The injured officers were first taken to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, but their families later shifted them to a private hospital for further treatment.

After the incident, the Gharaunda Police Station registered a case against two accused — Jaikunwar (the house owner) and Praveen — for assault and obstructing government work. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of victim – Ranjeet Singh, the Chief Manager of Canara Bank Gharaunda. According to Chief Manager Ranjeet Kumar, the house owner Jaikunwar had taken a loan from the bank using his house as security. About ₹45 lakh had been deposited earlier and ₹19 lakh was still outstanding. Despite repeated notices, the owner failed to pay the pending amount.

Because of this, the bank auctioned the property. On Tuesday evening, the bank staff went to hand over the house to the purchaser. At that moment, the accused Jaikunwar and Praveen arrived with sticks and attacked the team. Manager Sandeep Garg was also injured in the assault.

The bank team had previously taken possession of the house and locked it. However, after a few days, the accused allegedly broke the lock and entered the house illegally. Following orders from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karnal, the bank team returned on Tuesday to retake possession. A Tehsildar and a police team were also present. It was expected that the situation would be handled smoothly, but things got out of control.

Despite the presence of police officers, the attackers managed to beat two bank managers and damage their vehicle. This incident has raised serious questions about the effectiveness and alertness of the Gharaunda police team. People are asking – What’s the use of Police if they can’t help the citizens and stop crime? This incident has raised a big question – how will bank employees recover loan money from customers if such incidents happen right in front of Police?
