RBI employees have supported the upcoming bank strike from 28 to 30 September 2026. All India Reserve Bank Employees Association and All India Reserve Bank Workers Federation have fully supported the bank strike announced by UFBU.
AIRBEA and AIRBWF will hold lunch time Gate Demonstration on 28th September 2026 with display of posters/placards etc. and they have requested all members to participate in the protest.
AIRBEA and AIRBWF said that a five-day working week is now the norm everywhere. Bank employees are not asking for anything extraordinary. They are not asking for any curtailment of their services. Under a five-day working week, they would work longer hours each day to provide the same level of service as under the existing number of working days. This would not inconvenience banking customers at all. Despite this, the Government has taken a confrontational stand for no apparent reason other than to browbeat the collective efforts of the trade unions.
AIRBEA and AIRBWF have also described the new PLI scheme as discriminatory. They have also objected to the RBI’s directive to banks to remain open on Sunday, September 27, 2026. They said that, as the regulator and supervisor of the country’s financial sector, the RBI should have persuaded the Ministry of Finance to resolve the issues through dialogue. They further alleged that the RBI is instead acting on the Government’s directions against bank employees and officers.
