A fire broke out at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Sundargarh town, Odisha, on Monday. The incident caused concern among people in the area.

Fire Reported Near Main Post Office
The fire was reported at the PNB branch located opposite the main post office in Sundargarh town. Initial information suggests that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire. However, the exact reason for the incident has not yet been confirmed.

The fire was reportedly noticed around 9:15 am after local residents spotted smoke coming from the bank. They immediately alerted the fire department, following which firefighters reached the spot and launched an operation to bring the blaze under control.
After receiving information about the fire, police and Fire Services personnel quickly reached the bank. They started an operation to control and extinguish the flames.
Damage Details Awaited
Several items inside the bank were reportedly damaged in the fire. Computers and machines in the ATM area, tables and furniture, along with some documents, were destroyed. However, there was some relief as the cash counter remained safe. Fire officials said there was no damage to the cash counter and the cash was secured.
The exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed. Bank officials and fire personnel are inspecting the premises to determine the total loss.
