Bank Robbery in Punjab National Bank Kiosk in Panipat

On Friday, June 14, 2024, a kiosk branch of Punjab National Bank located in Dhoop Singh Nagar, Panipat, was targeted by a group of four masked individuals on a motorcycle. The incident took place during the morning hours, at approximately 10:00 am.

Robbery Details

The miscreants entered the kiosk bank branch and proceeded to hold the employees hostage at gunpoint. Reports indicate that the kiosk manager, Pradeep Kumar, and his brother, Harish, who run the branch, were present at the time. The perpetrators reportedly brandished a pistol and instructed everyone to remain quiet.

During the robbery, the miscreants rifled through the office, causing havoc and distress. In a particularly alarming turn of events, one of the robbers fired a shot, heightening the fear and tension within the branch. The criminals managed to escape with approximately 4 lakhs rupees, which they had collected and placed in their bags.

Manager’s Encounter

Pradeep Kumar, the Kiosk manager, displayed immense bravery during the incident. He attempted to apprehend the miscreants outside the office, but unfortunately, one of them attacked him with a sharp weapon, causing injury to his hand. This forced him to abandon his pursuit, and the robbers fled the scene, leaving their motorcycles behind.

Police Response

Upon receiving the information about the robbery, the police swiftly arrived at the location. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suresh Saini personally inspected the site and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered against the unknown perpetrators based on the victims’ statements.

CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity will aid the police in their efforts to identify and track down the criminals. Additionally, the police are also focusing on tracing any previous employees who may have had inside knowledge of the branch’s operations. The authorities are maintaining a vigilant watch on the surrounding areas.

DSP Suresh Shali assured the public that the police are working diligently to apprehend the suspects. They have seized the CCTV footage from the Mitra branch and have implemented citywide blockades to prevent the robbers from escaping. The police are committed to making arrests and bringing those responsible to justice.

This alarming incident has understandably caused panic and concern among the residents of Dhoop Singh Nagar and the surrounding areas. The police are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the community.
