On the morning of Monday, July 01, 2024, a disturbing incident occurred at Axis Bank located near Sri Krishna Chowk in Barbidha. Miscreants managed to loot approximately 28 lakhs from the bank, leaving the staff and authorities in shock. The entire robbery took place over a span of 25 minutes, during which the criminals held the bank employees hostage and executed their plan with precision.

Sequence of Events

According to reports, the robbery began when one of the miscreants entered the bank at around 11 o’clock. This individual appeared to have done thorough reconnaissance beforehand, as they provided detailed information to their accomplice over the phone. Soon after, the partner arrived, and together they initiated their criminal activities.

First, the miscreants took the bank employees by surprise and held them hostage. They then coerced the bank manager, Abhishek Kumar, at gunpoint to open the door of the strong room. It is unfortunate that during the course of the robbery, two bank employees were subjected to physical violence.

Once they had successfully looted the 28 lakh rupees, the criminals took the precaution of removing the hard disk from the bank’s surveillance cameras, hindering immediate identification. The incident came to light shortly after, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Investigation and Efforts for Apprehension

Following the robbery, a large number of police personnel, including SP Baliram Kumar Chaudhary, SDPO Arvind Kumar Sinha, and Thana Pradhikaran Vaibhav Kumar, have gathered at the scene. An investigation is underway to determine the potential involvement of bank employees in the crime.

The police are currently reviewing surveillance footage and are relying on forensic evidence to aid their investigation. The authorities remain optimistic about apprehending the criminals soon, as efforts are being made to identify and track them down.

Previous Incident at Ashirwad Gold Loan Bank

It is worth mentioning that a similar incident took place last year in Barbigha city, where a criminal looted 6 kg of gold and 2 lakh rupees in cash from the Ashirwad Gold Loan Bank in broad daylight. The police successfully solved the case, recovering the stolen gold and arresting all the criminals involved, including the bank manager and assistant manager, who were subsequently sent to jail.

The police force is committed to maintaining the security and well-being of the community and will continue their efforts to ensure that justice is served in this recent bank robbery case as well.
