On Sunday, Bank of Baroda (BoB) introduced a series of digital and technology-driven initiatives, marking a significant advancement in customer banking experiences. Among these innovations are a Generative AI-powered virtual relationship manager (VRM) and a credit line feature on UPI.

Generative AI-Powered Virtual Relationship Manager

BoB has unveiled a pioneering Generative AI-powered VRM, a first in the Indian banking sector. This cutting-edge tool offers real-time information about the bank’s products and services while effectively capturing customer needs for specific banking services. The VRM supports multiple languages and is available through video, audio, and chat interfaces. It will handle a range of everyday banking services, including account statements, cheque book requests, debit card requests, and interest certificates. The deployment of this VRM will be phased, gradually making it accessible to customers.

Credit Line on UPI for Enhanced Payments

In conjunction with its 117th foundation day, BoB also launched a credit line feature on UPI. Initially, this feature will be available to customers holding a Baroda Kisan Credit Card (BKCC). BKCC users can access a pre-sanctioned credit line via UPI, linking their KCC accounts for seamless merchant payments. Payments made through this credit line will count as repayments towards the utilised limit.

Integration with RBIH’s Public Tech Platform

BoB has integrated the BKCC with the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub’s (RBIH) Public Tech Platform, which facilitates frictionless credit processes. This integration enables the retrieval of digital land records and farm-related information and supports the implementation of Digital BKCC. The entire process, from customer onboarding to loan account opening and disbursement, is fully digital. The initiative is currently being rolled out in Madhya Pradesh.
