The All India Bank of Baroda Sena Union (AIBOBSU) has officially written to the General Manager of HRM, Bank of Baroda, requesting a relaxation in the Inter-Zonal Transfer (IZT) retransfer cutoff date for the year 2025. The union has raised concerns on behalf of several officers who may be unfairly disqualified from retransfer due to factors beyond their control.
What is the Issue?
As per the current policy, employees who were transferred outside their home zone during the 2022 IZT exercise can apply for retransfer only if they complete three years of service outside their zone by August 31, 2025. However, the union points out that many officers were delayed in getting relieved by their branch or department, meaning their actual joining date was pushed beyond what was planned.
Since the relieving process is managed by the department and not the officer, employees cannot be blamed for the delay. Yet, they may lose the opportunity for retransfer just because they fall short by a few days or weeks.

Officers Facing Challenges
These officers have spent the past three years working in areas far from home, often dealing with language barriers, long travel distances, and personal hardships. Despite all these difficulties, they have shown dedication and continued to serve the bank with full commitment.
The union believes that excluding them from the retransfer opportunity due to technical delays would be unfair and would result in extending their stay in the outside zone from 3 to 4 years.
Union’s Request
To address this concern, the union has requested the bank to extend the IZT 2025 retransfer cutoff date from August 31 to September 30, 2025. This one-month extension would allow the affected officers to qualify for retransfer and return closer to their home zones.
In addition, the union has also urged the bank to ensure that in future IZT exercises, officers who are selected for transfer must be mandatorily relieved before the cutoff date, so that such issues do not arise again.
Why It Matters
This request aims to protect the interests and well-being of bank employees who have already served in challenging conditions. It also emphasizes the importance of fair treatment, timely administrative actions, and work-life balance in maintaining staff morale and loyalty.
The ball is now in the management’s court to take a decision that considers both policy and compassion.
