The Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) sponsored by Bank of Baroda, namely Baroda UP Bank, Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank, and Baroda Gujarat Gramin Bank, are currently protesting against staff shortage, recruitment, and promotion issues within the banks. These concerns have prompted the RRBs to take action and seek resolution.

Reconciliation Meeting Rescheduled

Originally, a reconciliation meeting was scheduled for July 2, 2024, to address these issues. However, Bank of Baroda has requested the Labour Commissioner to reschedule the meeting to the third week of July 2024. The bank cited the unavailability of some of its directors as the reason for the request to extend the meeting date.

Meeting Rescheduled to July 18, 2024

The Labour Commissioner has accepted Bank of Baroda’s request and consequently rescheduled the reconciliation meeting to July 18, 2024. This decision allows for the bank’s directors to participate in the meeting and ensures that the concerns raised by the RRBs can be effectively addressed.

It is important to note that the rescheduling of the meeting demonstrates a willingness on the part of Bank of Baroda and the Labour Commissioner to address the issues raised by the RRBs and work towards a satisfactory resolution.

  1. Banks are cutting staff in an arbitrary manner. This must be stopped by the authorities. They dont do this.
Banks must do an assessment of avg accts per staff and accgly add/deploy staff. Nbr of vouchers, chqs, DDs, letters, returns, all these can be a reasonable way for assessing staff strength. Banks hv deliberately ignored this logical assessment and curtailed staff in branches, thereby inconveniencing customers and pressurising officers to complete the works.
One such officer recently committed suicide in UP.
Automation has taken place but these hv peculiar problems and many seniors and illiterates are unable to use the ATM, updating PB, depositing cash, etc. They prefer physical services and more so, the interactions.
Staff shortage has made public visit the branches twice for works like DD or other services.
