The Bank had announced that now various measures in favour of employees will be taken. But now again, the bank has ordered staff to work on holiday i.e. Sunday (3 August).
Why Bank of Baroda ordered staff to open branches on holidays?
Bank of Baroda has ordered staff to open branches on holidays to facilitate payments of PM KISAN. The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has announced that The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has consented to release the 20% instalment to the eligible PM KISAN farmers on 2 August, 2025 (Saturday), The release of benefits shall be done in one-go by the click of the button by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
The department has also informed that NEFT / RTGS platform of RBI will be operative on 29 July, 2025 (Tuesday), 30 July 2025 (Wednesday), 31 July 2025 (Thursday), 01 August 2025 (Fniday) as well as on the day of the event i.e, 02 August 2025 (Saturday) and also on the following day i.e. 3 August 2025 (Sunday) to facilitate the fund transfer from Accredited Bank to Sponsored Banks as well as settlement of funds within Banks, will continue to happen during the weekend prior to the event.
Thus, Bank of Baroda has instructed that all branches / processing centres of the bank to remain open on 29 July 2025 (Tuesday), 30 July 2025 (Wednesday), 31 July 2025 (Thursday), 01 August 2025 (Sunday) as well as on the day of the event i e: 02 August 2025 (Saturday) and also on the following day i.e. 03″ August 2025 (Sunday) to enable payment to the beneficiaries on the day of event.
What Association said?
All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Association has written letter to MD&CEO of Bank of Baroda to review this order. The instructions direct opening of all branches and the presence of all staff.
The Government of India advisory states as follows:-
“It is also requested to issue suitable instructions to all the banks concerned to keep the respective branches/processing centers open on……… to enable payment to beneficiaries on the day of event.”
The advisory emphasizes the need for only the concerned branches and processing centers to remain operational. In light of this, it’s believed that it may not be necessary to open all branches. A selective approach—opening only the required branches with a minimal number of staff—would be more appropriate.
This will help the Bank to avoid significant additional costs related to overtime, Giving Financial compensation/Compensatory off on a working day etc., besides causing inconvenience to staff members and their families.
The Association has requested MD&CEO to advise the concerned department to review the transaction and beneficiary pattern from previous similar events and issue instructions accordingly—limiting both the number of branches and staff required.
