The Anti-Corruption Team arrested a bank manager and a broker on Friday for accepting a bribe from a woman farmer in exchange for issuing a Kisan Credit Card (KCC). The arrest took place at Aryavart Bank in Chafaria, located in the Sujauli police station area. The officials caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe and took them into custody.
Bribe Demanded for Kisan Credit Card
The case involves Ramdei, a woman farmer from Bihari Purva village. She had been visiting the Aryavart Bank branch multiple times to get her KCC card issued. During this process, she met Mukteshwar Maurya, a resident of Bajpur Bankati village, who claimed he could help her get the card but demanded money in return.
Suspicious of the demand, Ramdei reported the incident to the Anti-Corruption Team. After verifying the complaint, the team set up a trap to catch the culprits in action.
Caught Red-Handed
On Friday, the Gonda Anti-Corruption Team, dressed in plain clothes, positioned themselves inside the bank premises. As soon as Ramdei handed over the bribe money to bank manager Prince Gupta, a resident of Sitapur, and broker Mukteshwar Maurya, the team moved in and caught them red-handed. Both were immediately taken into custody.
Police Support Provided
Harish Singh, the in-charge of Sujauli police station, confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Team had requested additional force from the police station, which was provided. However, he stated that he was unaware of the exact actions taken by the team, but they had taken both accused individuals with them.
