Bank Employees Accuse MD of Harassment, File Complaint against Staff Shortage and Unethical Work
In a significant development at the Central Cooperative Bank in Sawai Madhopur, officers and employees have raised serious allegations against the bank’s Managing Director (MD), OP Jain. The staff members have accused Jain of unfairly harassing them through arbitrary actions and mismanagement. On Wednesday, a memorandum was submitted to the District Collector by the All Rajasthan Cooperative Bank Officers Association, highlighting these concerns.
According to Kalicharan Sharma, President of the Association, the bank has 119 sanctioned staff positions, but only 29 permanent employees are currently working. These employees are responsible for managing 16 branches of the bank, often working on additional holidays to meet the demands. However, the employees claim that the MD, OP Jain, is only present at the bank for one or two hours on one or two days a week, despite holding the additional charge of the bank’s management.
The controversy intensified on January 4 when Jain issued 17 CCA (Conduct, Discipline, and Appeal) notices to all the employees, which the staff described as unfair. The employees believe that these notices are part of an attempt to pressure them into performing tasks that they deem inappropriate.
The memorandum also highlighted past allegations against Jain, including accusations of embezzling crores of rupees during his tenure at Bhumi Vikas Bank in Tonk and the District Consumer Store in Tonk. These allegations led to a halt in Jain’s promotion, but the staff claims that he continues to pressurize them for improper work.
In response to these issues, the officers’ association has demanded that the District Collector take appropriate action. Kalicharan Sharma warned that if no action is taken promptly, the association will initiate a statewide protest. Along with Sharma, key members of the association, including Secretary Subhash Chandra Baberwal, Alok Kumar Jain, and Rishi Kapoor, were present during the submission of the memorandum.
