In a heartbreaking incident, Shivani Tyagi, a 27-year-old relationship manager at the Axis Bank Noida branch, took her own life by consuming poison. She left behind a five-page suicide note, where she accused three bank employees of being responsible for her extreme step. Following a complaint filed by Shivani’s brother Gaurav, the police have registered a report against the three individuals under Section 108 for abetting suicide. The other accused parties remain unidentified. Gaurav revealed that Shivani had been facing physical and mental health issues but kept them hidden from her family. On the evening of July 12, she consumed poison, leading to her admission to the hospital, where she tragically passed away. A suicide note found in her room shed light on her ordeal and prompted a police report against the accused bank employees.

Workplace Harassment:

Gaurav shared that Shivani had been working at the bank since October 21, 2023, after completing her MBA. The suicide note revealed that Jyoti, one of her colleagues, had been subjecting her to harassment for about six months. Jyoti would make indecent comments towards Shivani, and others in the office would support her behavior. On June 29, Jyoti even ate lunch at Shivani’s table with her colleagues. When the table became dirty, Shivani asked Jyoti to clean it, which led to verbal abuse. Despite complaining to senior officers, no action was taken. The situation escalated on July 9 when Jyoti spoke inappropriately again and slapped Shivani. Although Shivani reported the incident to her seniors, no action was taken.

Suicide Note

Shivani’s heart-wrenching suicide note described the harassment she endured at the hands of her colleagues for the past six months. She mentioned receiving indecent comments, her table being dirtied, and the lack of action from senior officers despite her complaints. Shivani faced immense pressure to resign from her position, and when she refused, she was wrongfully terminated by the company. The stress took a toll on her mental health, causing her sleeplessness and necessitating medical consultation. Shivani kept these workplace issues hidden from her family to spare them worry. In her suicide note, she included her mobile password and bank account details, along with a plea for severe punishment for those responsible to prevent similar incidents in the future. She bid farewell to her family, urging them to take care of each other.

Legal Action and Investigation:

Gaurav filed a report against the three individuals named in the suicide note. The police will question them, gathering evidence related to the incident. The case is being taken seriously, and further action will be based on the collected evidence. Ravi Kumar, ACP of Nandgram, emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to ensure justice for Shivani.
