In a shocking incident on December 24, a Bandhan Bank employee, Deepak Kumar, was shot and injured by unidentified criminals near Salgodi turn in the Palasi police station area of Araria district, Bihar. Following the attack, the injured employee received treatment at a local primary health center before being referred to a higher facility. Deepak Kumar, son of Sitaram Yadav, hails from Chikani village in the Kochadhaman police station area of Kishanganj.
Police Investigation and Breakthrough
Senior police officials, including SP Amit Ranjan and Sadar SDPO Rampukar Singh, arrived at the scene late at night to investigate. During a press conference on Tuesday, SP Amit Ranjan revealed that a special team had been formed to track down the criminals and recover the weapons used in the crime. The team employed advanced technical methods, including tower dump analysis, CDR-SDR data scrutiny, and intelligence gathering, to crack the case.
Shocking Revelation: Contract Killing Orchestrated by Wife
The investigation unveiled a disturbing motive behind the attack. Nisha Kumari, Deepak Kumar’s wife, was found to be the mastermind behind the crime. Nisha, a resident of Amgachi village in the Palasi police station area, had allegedly conspired with her lover, Manohar Kumar, to eliminate her husband. The duo had offered a contract of ₹50,000 to execute the attack. Nisha and Manohar orchestrated the crime with the help of three others: Akhilesh Yadav, Sachin Yadav, and Niraj Kumar Vishwas.
Arrests and Recoveries
The police swiftly arrested all five accused:
- Nisha Kumari (19) – Mastermind and wife of the victim.
- Manohar Kumar (23) – Nisha’s lover and key conspirator.
- Akhilesh Yadav (24) – Accomplice.
- Sachin Yadav – Accomplice.
- Niraj Kumar Vishwas (24) – Accomplice.
During the raids, the police recovered:
- Two country-made pistols.
- Two magazines.
- Four cartridges.
- Four mobile phones.
- ₹30,000 cash, part of the contract money.

The operation to apprehend the accused was carried out by a team led by Palasi Police Station President SI Mithlesh Kumar, along with SI Vijay Kumar, SI Manoj Kumar, DIU branch Sub Inspector Vivek Prasad, and Sub Inspector Nagendra Kumar. The DIU team and armed police forces also played a key role in the arrests.
