There is an important news for all the farmers in India. Punjab National Bank – one of the largest public sector banks in India, is organising Agriculture Outreach Programme from 2nd June 2025. All the farmers in India can get loans easily in this campaigns.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is starting a new nationwide initiative to support farmers and agriculture-based businesses. This Monthly Agriculture Outreach Programme will begin on June 2, 2025, and will be held on the first day of every month.

What is the Purpose of This Programme?

The main goal of this programme is to help farmers and agri-business owners by improving their knowledge and access to financial services and modern technology. It aims to make sure that people working in agriculture have the tools, loans, and support they need to grow their income and improve their farming methods.

How Will PNB Connect with Farmers?

Punjab National Bank will carry out this programme through:

  • Krishi Chaupals – local gatherings in villages to talk directly with farmers
  • Digital Zones – tech-enabled areas to promote digital banking and financial literacy
  • PNB Booths – help desks where people can ask questions and get guidance about banking products

These methods will help PNB reach farmers even in remote areas, making sure that everyone has access to useful financial tools.

Key Areas of Focus in the Programme

PNB will focus on different aspects of agriculture and rural development. Here are the main points:

1. Support for Self-Help Groups (SHGs): PNB will provide Micro Credit Plan-based loans to SHGs. This support will help members of SHGs, especially women, to expand their small businesses and become financially independent.

2. Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF): The bank will help farmers and agri-entrepreneurs get funding for:

  • Buying modern farm machines
  • Setting up storage units and cold storage facilities
  • Creating Custom Hiring Centers where farmers can rent machinery

This will help in reducing post-harvest losses and improve productivity and income.

3. Support for Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME): Small food processing units can get grants, loans, and subsidies to:

  • Upgrade their equipment
  • Meet quality standards
  • Expand into new markets

This will increase job opportunities and help in the formalisation of the food sector.

4. Other Priority Sectors: PNB will also support:

  • The National Livestock Mission
  • Hi-tech and Precision Farming
  • Food and Agro-Processing Units

These efforts will help bring innovation and growth to rural areas.

Leadership Speaks

Shri Ashok Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Punjab National Bank, shared his views on the new initiative:

“Agriculture is the backbone of our country’s economy. At PNB, we are fully committed to helping farmers and rural communities. Through this programme, we aim to make it easier for them to get loans, learn about digital banking, and strengthen the entire agricultural ecosystem.”

This monthly outreach programme is an important step in building a strong relationship between banks and rural communities. It will help bring financial inclusion to the grassroots level, support the growth of agri-based businesses, and ensure that rural India moves toward economic progress in a sustainable way.
