New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that all agency banks dealing with government receipts and payments will remain open for public transactions on March 31, 2026, even though the day is a public holiday.

March 31 is the last day of the financial year, and keeping agency bank branches open helps avoid delays in government accounting and settlement of transactions.

In a circular issued on February 3, 2026, the RBI said that the decision was taken at the request of the Government of India. The reason is to ensure that all government-related receipts and payments are properly accounted for within the financial year 2025–26.
