AIPNBOF GS asks Employees to work on Holidays
All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Federation (AIPNBOF) General Secretary Shri Krishna Kumar has urged employees of Punjab National Bank to work on holidays. Let’s read what he said and why employees are criticizing his decision.
AIPNBOF GS posted this message on Social Media
AIPNBOF comrades are advise to go on duty today if required only for recovery purposes and fresh slippage check and all other instructions verbal or written issued for any other purpose by any authorities should be ignored. Holiday is very precious for us and meant for family and self rejuvenation and it can not be and should not be used for clearing any pendency of works arising due to shortage of staff in branches. At the same time we must continue to deliver our best for our bank on working day.

PNB Employees criticize his decision
Employees of Punjab National Bank are criticizing his decision as they say – Recovery and slippage monitoring are routine banking activities and should be completed during normal working days. Allowing employees to work on holidays even for these tasks encourages a culture where holiday working becomes normal.
More importantly, this message has been posted by the General Secretary of a bank employees’ union. When a union leader himself asks employees to work on holidays for recovery or slippage work, it weakens the union’s stand against holiday working.
It also gives bank management a reason to keep calling employees on holidays by saying the work is related to recovery or business needs. Instead of putting pressure on the management to recruit more staff and complete work during normal office hours, such messages make the management’s position stronger and reduce the chances of ending unnecessary holiday working.
PLI Issue
A few days earlier, Shri Krishna Kumar posted a message on social media demanding PLI for senior executives of Banks. He said that senior executives have not yet received PLI and requested Finance Minister to look into it.

Bank Employees are protesting against this new PLI scheme as under this scheme officers upto Scale 3 will get PLI only upto Rs.50,000 whereas Scale 4 and above senior executives will get PLI starting from Rs.10 lac.
Bank Employees are criticizing him for favouring senior executives and supporting holiday working.
