All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association (AIPNBOA) has increased the Ex-Gratia amount payable to the families of Officer members who meet untimely death while in service.

The ex-gratia scheme was introduced in 1990s to extend immediate financial help to the families of deceased officer members of our Association. Initially, an amount of Rs.35,000/- was being paid under the scheme out of which Rs.10,000/- was being reimbursed by Central Office. The amount of ex-gratia was enhanced to Rs.50,000/- w.e.f. 01.01.2017 and the amount of reimbursement was also enhanced to Rs.25,000/-.

In view of the increasing inflation and financial strength of the Association, the matter was discussed in the recently held CEC meeting at Madurai on 30.04.2025. After discussion, the CEC unanimously decided to revise the amount of ex-gratia under the Scheme as under:

Eligibility: The officer should be a member of the Association for a minimum period of 12 months. In case of officers whose membership has been resumed after a break, the earlier period of membership shall not be counted. In case of direct recruited officers who die within a period of 12 months, proportionate amount shall be paid. However, the officers who have more than 12 months in officer cadre but less than 12 months of membership, shall be paid an amount of Rs.50,000/- as per the old scheme.

The order of payment shall be as under:

i. In case of married officer, the amount shall be paid to the spouse.
ii. In case of death of the spouse, the amount shall be paid to the eldest adult son or unmarried adult daughter. In case of more than one claimant, No Objection Certificate (NOC) from other members shall be required.
iii. In case of unmarried officer, the payment shall be made to the nominee of PF/Gratuity/NPS. In case of multiple nominees, the payment shall be made as per the nomination. In case there is no nomination, the payment shall be made to any one claimant who is found suitable by the circle leaders with the consent of other family members.
iv. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Association shall be final and binding and no legal challenge shall be entertained.

Rights of the Association: The Association shall have the right to alter/change the amount and terms and conditions of the Scheme at any time or even cancel the scheme altogether. The revised scheme is implemented with immediate effect.
