AIBOC Says Bank Strike on September 11 Was a Massive Success
The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) has said that the All India Bank Strike held on 11 September 2026 was a massive success. AIBOC has congratulated its unions and members for their strong participation in the strike.
According to AIBOC, banking services were severely affected at many centres and branches across the country. It said that a large number of bank employees and officers participated in strike-day rallies and demonstrations. The organisation said the participation showed the anger and concern of employees and officers over the delay in fulfilling their long-pending demands.
5-Day Banking Remains a Major Demand
AIBOC said that one of the main demands is the introduction of a 5-day banking system. The organisation said that the demand had already been agreed upon in the wage revision agreement in March 2024.
AIBOC said discussions were held with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC) to seek concrete steps for implementing 5-day banking. However, according to the organisation, there was no forward movement on the issue, with the matter still being under consideration.
AIBOC Raises Issue of PLI Scheme
The organisation also raised concerns over the Government’s Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Scale IV officers and above.
AIBOC said it had objected to the scheme, calling it unilateral, discriminatory and divisive. It said the scheme was later kept in abeyance for 2025-26 and is to be finalised through discussions with the unions. AIBOC said this decision supported its earlier position on the issue.
Three-Day Strike Announced for September 28-30
AIBOC said that the strike was called with the objective of finding a solution to the pending demands. Since the demands had not been settled, the organisation said it would continue its agitation.
The organisation has called upon its members to prepare for the next phase of the protest. It said that a three-day continuous bank strike will be held from 28 September to 30 September 2026.
AIBOC thanked its units and members for their strong response and said that the unity of bank employees and officers would continue in the next phase of the agitation.
