The issue of 5-day banking is becoming contentious. The 12th BPS was signed on 8 March 2024, and it was decided to implement 5-day banking. However, even after two years, the Government has not yet announced 5-day banking. While most government departments work only five days a week, bank employees are still forced to work six days a week, with holidays only on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.
