The All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) has strictly warned Bank Management to behave properly and stop issuing baseless instructions.
In the last few days, banks have been issuing baseless instructions to their employees and are stooping too low. On social media, banks are crying about the benefits provided to their employees. They are trying to portray their employees as villains.
Banks say that the situation could have been handled through dialogue and that a strike is not needed. AIBEA said that the UFBU gave the strike call after trying to resolve the matter through discussions, including discussions before the Chief Labour Commissioner.
UFBU had served the strike notice one month earlier, giving bank managements enough time to discuss the issue with unions and find a solution. AIBEA also said that bank managements are parties to the settlement dated March 8, 2024, and therefore have a responsibility to ensure its implementation.
AIBEA further stated that the agreement between the unions and management, which was also recommended to the Government, has not been approved for the last 30 months. The association said managements should also be unhappy about the delay because the pending matter is based on an agreement reached between the employees’ unions and bank managements.
AIBEA criticised some bank managements for their approach towards the proposed strike. AIBEA said that instead of helping to find a solution, some managements were issuing what it described as unnecessary, unfair and unjustified instructions to employees.
AIBEA stressed that the strike is an industrial action and should not be treated as a war between employees’ unions and bank management. The association alleged that some managements were treating employees as criminals and unions as opponents.
