Police Called Immediately After Firing Incident

The local Panipat police were called right away. After initial investigation, the police confirmed that the bullet was fired accidentally from the gun of the bank’s own security guard. The guard was taken into custody and questioned inside the bank premises.

According to police sources, the incident happened around 12:30 PM when everything at the bank was running as usual. Suddenly, a loud gunshot was heard, and chaos broke out as people tried to understand what had happened.

Guard Claims It Was an Accident

A man named Karan Poonia, who was present in the bank at the time, said that the guard did not shoot on purpose. He explained that the gun slipped from the elderly guard’s belt, hit the wall, and fired accidentally. The guard had no personal connection with the customer who got injured.

Police Shares Details of How It Happened

Sub-Inspector Kulbir Singh from Panipat City Police Station visited the spot and shared more details. He said that the security guard was standing near the bank’s entrance, and the gun was hanging from his shoulder. While adjusting his shoulder belt, the hook came loose, and the gun fell to the ground. The weapon discharged as it hit the floor, and the bullet struck a customer named Ankur in the foot.

Injured Customer Taken to Hospital

Ankur was quickly taken to Ravindra Hospital, where he is now in stable condition. Police have confirmed that it appears to be a case of accidental firing, but they are still verifying the facts. A forensic team has also been called to the scene to examine the gun and gather evidence. The police are trying to find out whether one bullet was fired or more.

The police said that although this seems to be an unintentional mishap, there was negligence on the guard’s part. Further action will be taken based on the statement of the injured person and results of the investigation.
