Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bhubaneswar on October 25, 2026, to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) newly established Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute. This milestone facility marks a transformative leap in the technological infrastructure supporting India’s financial and banking architecture. Designed to meet the RBI’s rigorous computing demands, the complex provides a secure, highly resilient, scalable, and future-ready computing ecosystem for both the central bank and the wider financial sector.

World-Class Tier IV Infrastructure and Global Scale
The sprawling complex features four state-of-the-art data centres dedicated to hosting mission-critical payment and settlement systems alongside other flagship financial initiatives. Notably, the facility has earned the prestigious Uptime Institute Tier IV certification—the global gold standard for data centre infrastructure, placing it in the highest tier of operational resilience. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), it stands as one of the largest Tier IV-certified facilities across the global banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector, ensuring unprecedented reliability and efficiency for India’s digital financial services.
Advanced Cybersecurity Training and Emerging Technologies
Operating alongside the data centre, the dedicated Cybersecurity Training Institute will serve as a premier national hub for enterprise-technology training, advanced research, and capability development. The institute’s core focus areas are tailored to modern technological needs, emphasizing next-generation innovations such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other critical digital advancements crucial for securing the future of the banking industry.

- Address: Located at Info Valley-II near Bhubaneswar, in the Khordha district of Odisha.
- Investment: The project was built with an estimated cost of around Rs 169 crore.
- Foundation: The foundation stone for the complex was laid on March 22, 2023, by former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
Strategic Role & Disaster Recovery
- Secondary/Backup Facility: While the RBI’s primary data centre is situated in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, this new Bhubaneswar facility functions as a critical secondary/backup site.

If the primary data centre faces disruptions, this geographical separation ensures that core central banking operations—such as currency management, payment systems, and financial settlements—can be restored or maintained without systemic failure.
Execution and Infrastructure Partners
- Contractor & Consultants: The construction contract was executed by Ahluwalia Contracts (awarded via the Indian Financial Technologies and Allied Services – IFTAS), with Engineers India Limited (EIL) providing EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) services from concept to commissioning.
