Karnataka Government Declares October 26 as Public Holiday under NI Act

The Karnataka government has announced that October 26, 2026, will be observed as a public holiday across the state.

According to a government notification issued on October 5, 2026, Sri Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti was originally scheduled as a general holiday on October 25, 2026. However, October 25 falls on a Sunday this year.

To compensate for the holiday falling on a Sunday, the Karnataka government has declared Monday, October 26, 2026, as a general holiday for government offices in the state.

The government has also declared October 26 as a holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. This means that this holiday will also apply for Banks in the State.
