PNB Amritsar Zone orders to mark Staff as Absent for not attending office on Sunday

Punjab National Bank (PNB) Amritsar Zone has directed its offices to mark “Unauthorised Absence” in the attendance records of officers who were instructed to report for duty on Sunday, September 27, 2026, but remained absent without authorised leave or prior permission.
The direction was issued by the Human Resource Department of PNB’s Zonal Office, Amritsar, through a letter dated September 30, 2026.

Earlier, PNB had released a notice dated September 24, 2026, regarding keeping all branches and offices operational on September 27 in view of the proposed nationwide bank strike scheduled from September 28 to September 30, 2026.
The Government of India and RBI had ordered Banks to remain open on Sunday – 27 September due to bank strike. All the public sector banks issued orders to their staff to attend office on Sunday.
According to the letter, officers who were instructed to report for duty on September 27 but remained absent without authorised leave or prior permission will be marked as being on “Unauthorised Absence” for that date in the bank’s attendance records.
The bank has also stated that suitable action may be initiated in such cases. The Amritsar Zonal Office has further asked all Circle Offices to provide confirmation that officers who were instructed to report for duty on September 27 but remained absent without authorisation have been marked as “Unauthorised Absence” in the attendance records for that date.
