A woman bank manager from Kanpur, identified as Sapna Gautam, died in Punjab’s Bhatinda. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Her parents allege that her engineer husband was forcing her to abort the child because she was expecting their third daughter. Sapna and her husband (Shamsher Singh) have two daughters, Aavya (7) and 5-year-old Aastishti. Sapna’s mother, Geeta Devi, said that when Sapna became pregnant eight months ago, her husband forcibly got the gender tested. After learning that the baby was a girl, he was constantly pressuring her for an abortion.
Allegations of Forced Abortion
According to Sapna’s mother, Geeta Devi, her daughter’s husband had been pressuring her to undergo an abortion after learning that she was carrying a girl. Sapna refused to go through with the procedure, but her husband deceived her by taking her to the hospital for a routine checkup and then forcing her to have an abortion against her will. This incident led to a dispute between the couple.
A month before the delivery, on June 4, Sapna’s health deteriorated, and she was referred to Chandigarh as her condition became critical. Unfortunately, she passed away before reaching Chandigarh. The family alleges that Sapna’s husband had given her abortion pills, which worsened her condition and ultimately led to her death.
Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
Sapna’s parents have filed a complaint against her in-laws, and the police have initiated an investigation into the case. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action will be taken based on the report.
In addition to the allegations of forced abortion, Sapna’s family claims that she was being harassed by her in-laws for dowry. The family had already provided a significant amount of dowry, including cash, gold, and land, at the time of the marriage. The harassment allegedly continued even after the birth of their two daughters.
In India we analyse from last two decades that there are too much shortage of girls in every caste because girls are educated with high profile and boys of their matching in all sense not available.
Gone the old days when born of girls was treated as curse due to non education and demand of dowry by bride grooms’ family so poor families in the society were always born with debt and died with debt.
But in the present era, girls are intelligent and they understand their good and bad and after getting education, search partner at their own.
We people of the society must do not do this type of sin.
